Brave New World - Chapter 16 - Movies and Chill?

"We've sacrificed the high art. We have feelies and the scent organ instead.' 'But they don't mean anything" (Huxley 227).

In defending the statement, Science and Technology will help benefit humanity in the future, is very efficient and advanced way for everyone to watch new movies. This is beneficial for humanity because people who can not comprehend certain situations can finally feel how it is like to feel certain emotions or difficult events. This also helps relate to the very famous quote, "you won't know until you walk a mile in my shoes", because you can actually feel what other people are going through with their emotion and how they personally feel about a certain situation. This is beneficial for humanity because people need to realize how other people feel in difficult situations so they can not take their feelings for granted and also understand how they can deal and handle what other people are going through. Overall, having this very advanced technology can help science in various ways, it can be an experiment on how our minds work and how ours bodies can react to certain situations because we need our bodies to be familiar with certain  situations.

Brave New World - Chapter 15 - Pew Pew

"Three men with spraying machines buckled to their shoulders pumped thick clouds of soma vapour into the air. Two more were busy round the portable Synthetic Music Box. Carrying water pistols charged with a powerful anesthetic, four others had pushed their way into the crowed and were methodically laying out, squirt by squirt, the more ferocious fighters" (Huxley 220).

In defending the statement, Science and Technology will help benefit humanity in the future, supports the quote above that the new technology will help benefit the humane race in the future because they created a new weaponry to fight off any enemies. This will definitely be a crucial weapon for the future because it did not really clarify if the Brave New World had weapons of any sort that existed in their world. This gives everyone a whole classification of what advancements still existed and improved. This is more beneficial for humans because instead of bullets they use water, a little less harmful to the people who are going to be affected. Also, this puts a big rest on gun violence and gun control on the people.  A lot of parents do not need to wake up in fear of their children being harmed at school because they put the rest on bullets. Overall, this water gun is beneficial for humanity because it's less harmful and a more safer way for authorities to defend themselves.

Brave New World - Chapter 14 - Television Fun

"Linda was dying in company–in company and with all the modern conveniences. The air was continuously alive with gay synthetic melodies. At the foot of every bed, confronting its moribund occupant, was a television box. Television was left on, a running tap, from morning till night. Every quarter of an hour the prevailing perfume of the room was automatically changed. "We try," explained the nurse, who had taken charge of the Savage at the door, "we try to create a thoroughly pleasant atmosphere here–something between a first-class hotel and a feely-palace..." (Huxley 203).

In defending the statement, Science and Technology will help benefit humanity in the future, this supports the fact that technology will help benefit humanity in the future. In further explanation, John visits his ill mother in a hospital because she has been ill for a very long time. John talks to the nurse to help him find his mother and the nurse becomes shock about what he just said but she still helps him. As he enters the room, he sees his mom, Linda, resting while watching a tennis game. This benefits her and humanity in the future because people need a sort of entertainment to help take their minds of serious issues. It was described in the quote, the television was left from morning till night. We can infer that Linda could not sleep and was really stressed about he health and about life in general that she left the television on day and night. This is has been going on till this day, people use various technologies  to run away from stress. For example, smartphones, computers, etc.

Brave New World - Chapter 13 - V.P.S. Treatment

"A V.P.S. treatment indeed! She would have laughed, if she hadn't been on the point of crying. As though she hadn't got enough V. P. of her own! She sighed profoundly as she refilled her syringe. "John," she murmured to herself, "John …" Then "My Ford," she wondered, "have I given this one its sleeping sickness injection, or haven't I?" (Huxley 191).

In defending the statement, Science and Technology will help benefit humanity, this supports the idea of science will help benefit humanity in the future years by having minimal amount of diseases and viruses spreading through the town which, once again proves that having V.P.S. Treatment is beneficial for everyone in the universe of the Brave New World and humanity in the future. In this passage, Henry Foster asks Lenin if she was ill because she rejected his offer to sleep with him. Henry suggested her to go see a doctor because he saw some weariness in her purple eyes and he also detected some sadness feeling towards her. Assuming, It was mostly about John. In furthermore, having V.P.S. is very crucial for the human race in the future years because this can help prevent many diseases to spread around the world and it can also help the people who can not afford health care and hospital bills.

Brave New World - Chapter 12 - Aware of Biology

"A New Theory of Biology," was the title of the paper which Mustapha Mond had just finished reading"
"The author's mathematical treatment of the conception of purpose is novel and highly ingenious, but heretical and, so far as the present social order is concerned, dangerous and potentially subversive" (Huxley 180).

In defending the statement, Science and Technology will help benefit humanity in the future, with this new book because it's shows how you are still aware and not ignorant about certain issues. So the passage starts off with Mustapha Mond had just finished reading a book called, "A New Theory of Biology", it was described as ingenious. This is really significant because the Brave New World do not condone individuals to have free thought. This will help humanity later in the future by helping the world have free thought and create social order. Not only would it create social order and free though but everyone would not give in to conformity anymore. Moreover, when they read more about the life of biology they would be more aware of what is happening to their bodies and hopefully learn how unsafe and fake soma is. Overall, having this great science book will help humanity to not be ignorant anymore and hopefully discover the truth about soma and the world they live in.

Brave New World - Chapter 11 - Medical Field

"....felt after peyotl, as though you'd done something so shamefully antisocial that you could never hold up your head again. Soma played none of these unpleasant tricks" (Huxley 156).

In defending the statement, Science and Technology will help benefit humanity in the future, with this certain drug, this is very relevant and helpful to humanity in the future. In this passage, it describes how Linda is back to the civilization of the Brave New World, and they bring back the fact that she has been using the substance called Peyotl, which helps you forget about reality and make you feel like a happier person but has a shameful, as it was described above, and a very unhealthy side effect after consuming this substance. Linda is now very intrigued about getting back on with a healthier and better substance called, Soma. This drug has the same detail as peyotl but it does not come with the unhealthy and shameful side effect afterwards. This is very helpful for humanity in the future because in the medical field, people have to take a certain substances that will make them feel num and have to be unconscious because of the amount of pain the surgery will affect on someone's body. This will benefit them crucially because a lot of people do not want to feel unhealthy and horrible after the surgery. Overall, having a drug like soma is a great medical advancement to the people who work in the medical field and also the patients so they won't have to endure so much more pain.

Brave New World - Chapter 10 - Life teaching while sleeping?

"...hypnopædic lessons in hygiene and sociability, in class-consciousness and the toddler's love-life" (Huxley 149).

In the statement, Science and technology will benefit humanity in the future, the quote above is relevant to how children and maybe even teens will learn later in the future. The quote above started when they were explaining what the children were doing at the time, they were sleep learning about different types of categories of lifestyle. Having this type of learning will definitely help children or teenagers more of what they're dealing with in the future. For example, if you give lessons about serious issues they will not take it as seriously but when they learn it during there sleeping stages, they are more likely to remember and to feel more emotion from it. Nowadays, kids do not take their learning seriously and tend to not listen to the lessons the teachers give but If they created this sleep teaching, they will not be able to run away from it and have no choose but to pay attention to the lessons. This will also give more time for the children to do other things if they do not want to go to
College, perhaps, they can do more of a career school institute type of schools. Overall, this type of teaching will benefit with time and the time to teach children more efficiently.

Brave New World - Chapter 9 - Walking is too old

"She'll be quite safe here by herself?"
"Safe as helicopters," the octoroon assured him" (Huxley 142).

In defending the statement, Science and Technology will help benefit humanity in the future, is helpful with the transportation process. The quote above is a crucial way for everyone in the Brave New World to transport places to places. In the quote, they were talking about how Lenina took a lot of Somas right when they got back to the Brave New World. She had to fly back in the helicopter by herself and Bernard replies she will be safe as helicopters. Meaning, that helicopters are very reliable and safe way from them to transport to places. In the future, this will benefit everyone because most likely the gas prices will increase and inflation will occur, causing everyone to spend money they don't have especially the lower class through the middle class. This will not only benefit the economy but the safety of everyone else. A majority of people a day get into car accidents most of the time, injure or even worst kill someone in the process because another person was at fault of the crash with helicopter we wouldn't have to worry about that as much. Overall, helping improve our transportation technology will help our society to be safer, economically smarter, and more organized.

Brave New World - Chapter 8 - Drugs are not Bad?

"Popé used to come often. He said the stuff in the gourd was called mescal; but Linda said it ought to be called soma; only it made you feel ill afterward" (Huxley 126).

In defending the statement, Science and Technology will help benefit humanity in the future, the quote above is useful for many reasons. First, everyone in London uses a drug called, soma, it is used for many reasons. One of the crucial reasons why most people use soma is because they want to be happy and forget about the stressful events in their lives. It's used as an escape goat to run away from reality. Now, Linda, who used to live in London, does not have any possession of soma anymore because she lives in the savage reservation. She substitutes this drug with a liquid substance called mescal. This substance is relevant to our society for the future because, today people suffer depression and tend to self harm to face their problems. The substance, mescal, is the same type of drug, to be happy and escape reality. Having this certain drug is very beneficial for the human race in the future, considering the debt and the job unemployment rates everyone will use this drug to escape the world and to not be stressed anymore. Overall, having soma and all of this special substances is helpful to society to reduce suicide rates and the less people who will feel depressed about themselves emotionally and physically.

Brave New World - Chapter 7 - Free Healthcare = No Healthcare

"That's because we don't allow them to be like that. We preserve them from diseases. We keep their internal secretions artificially balanced at youthful equilibrium" (Huxley 111).

In the defending the statement, "Science and Technology will help benefit humanity in the future", the quote is crucial for the human race in future. The context talks about how the people who live in New Mexico or the Savage reservation can contract diseases. Comparing that to where Lenina and Bernard lives, they don't contract any sort of diseases because they were made to have a metabolism to be permanently stimulated, otherwise meaning to contract any diseases. This form of technology and science will benefit the human race by preventing diseases to spread globally or even be infected. The cost of how much we spend on Scientist and medical staff will decrease because we will not have these certain issues anymore and we would not need to research on this crucial matter. We will
not have medical loans to cover and deal with. Moreover, people would not need to find a cure for cancer or any form of diseases. Overall, with this new type of technology and science, our world will be financially and physically be better.

Brave New World - Chapter 6 - Hugs that feel like Drugs

"why you don't take soma when you have these dreadful ideas of yours. You'd forget all about them. And instead of feeling miserable, you'd be jolly. So jolly" (Huxley 92).

In defending the statement, Science and Technology will help benefit humanity in the future, is crucial for the quote stated above. According to the quote above, if you took these special advanced drugs then you would feel emotionally and physically better  about themselves. With this new drug, you would not feel stressed out about anything anymore, you would be careless all the time and he happy. This will benefit humanity in the future by, taking this drug and feeling stressless about everything with no health defects in the end. Since, today people are stressed everyday with work, schools, etc. This will definitely be useful for those people especially considering the fact that using this drug does not anyway shape or form will affect your health in anyway. Overall, this drug will benefit humanity in the future because there are certain drugs today that many people take today to feel less stressed but if you take too much it will affect your health to the point of death and injuries. With this new drug no harm can affect you and the people around you in anyway.

Brave New World - Chapter 5 - "All Men Are Decanted Equally"

"All men are physico-chemically equal," said Henry sententiously. "Besides, even Epsilons perform indispensable service" (Huxley 74).

In the statement, Science and technology will benefit humanity in the future, is relevant to this quote because with this quote saying that all are physico-chemically equal. This will benefit the humane race by actually creating everyone to be born equal. For example, If someone was born taller than the other person then they won't necessarily be created equally. That other person will have more advantage compared to the shorter person. With this certain technology where everyone is born equally, the human race would not have to be divided or segregated. Humanity would not feel the need to depend on other classes for help and it's very crucial for everyone to be equally educated so if one day history repeated itself every group would be aware of what action to take and know exactly how to take initiative. Also, it is not healthy for all of our groups to be segregated like the story from this book because if there were another group to attack these separated groups each groups would be too difficult to succeed. In the end, with the technology to exactly be born equally will help benefit humanity in the future.

Brave New World - Chapter 4 - Science Takes Over Desires

"That is," Lenina gave him her most deliciously significant smile, "if you still want to have me.......As though I'd been saying something shocking," thought Lenina. "He couldn't look more upset if I'd made a dirty joke-asked him who his mother was, or something like that" (Huxley 58)

In the statement, that is being defended, technology and science will benefit humanity in the future, is highly crucial from the quote above. A new type of technology  like this powerful will have a great effect on humanity. For example, If someone was born or raised by unfit or cruel parents, they can be fixed by science to mentally think in different ways. This technology is so powerful that Lenina thinks that having a mother is a joke or the idea of a parent is a joke. Before, Lenina did not want to meet or go out with a different person but since the science that is injected in her, changed the way she thinks now. She clearly wants to sleep with this man. The science that was experimented through everyone including her friend were forced to believe in certain things they did not believe in. This proves how a big influence are operated by science.
